Broadcaster Baek Ji-yeon confessed that she was verbally abused by a senior during her time as an MBC anchor.

In the video titled ‘Returning Rudeness to Rude People’ uploaded on the YouTube channel ‘Now Baek Ji-yeon’ on the 21st, Baek Ji-yeon talked about how to deal with rude people.

Baek Ji-yeon said, “When you live together with many people, not alone, there are people who are rude to me and attack me with unnecessary words. There are also people who upset me.”

She continued, “In such cases, try to raise a protective barrier to defend yourself,” adding, “Think of there being a barrier between you and that person. So even if that person throws something bad, you don’t have to receive it if you don’t want to.”

Baek Ji-yeon then shared her experience from when she was an MBC 9 o’clock news anchor.

Baek Ji-yeon recalled, “If the 9 o’clock live broadcast starts, it’s an emergency from 6 o’clock. At the time, we used to sit around and review articles and edit them together.”

She said, “We were always preparing for broadcasts, so we would often miss meal times. In such cases, I would always carry small bread like emergency food in my bag because I would be really hungry,” and added, “When busy, I often just had a piece of rice cake, a piece of bread, and coffee for dinner on the go.”

She continued, “One day, while having a piece of rice cake and coffee, a senior passed by and said, ‘Only stupid people like rice cakes.’ I still remember those words.”

She then added, “While eating rice cake, I felt like it got stuck. I stayed quiet for a moment and then said, ‘So, senior, do you also like rice cakes?’ Everyone failed to hold back their laughter. That person never mentioned it again.”

Baek Ji-yeon emphasized, “When you point things out right away, it is important not to let your emotions be shaken.”
