“Let’s all dance and have fun together!” A rookie who truly lives up to their name.
YG Entertainment is betting everything, releasing their first regular album at a rapid pace, forming a determined and skillful group called Babymonster.
On the 1st, they released their first regular album ‘Drip’ and are expanding their reach to establish themselves as Hallyu stars. On the morning of the 1st, at the YG Entertainment building in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Babymonster expressed their ambitions, stating, “We will fully express the freedom unique to YG.”
The first title song ‘Drip’ is an EDM-based dance song infused with YG’s unique hip-hop vibe.
You can feel Babymonster’s confident attitude.
The song ‘Drip’, unveiled for the first time on this day, delivers excitement with its addictive hook, dynamic beat, and intense bass sound combined.
The members explained, “While ‘Shishi’ left a strong impression with heavy hip-hop, ‘Drip’ stands out with a song that showcases a free, all-together fun atmosphere.” In the ‘Drip’ music video, the members wore kitschy outfits and maximized their freedom.
The tight rap poured out without a boring moment, and following Ahyeon’s three-step high pitch, Babymonster’s signature dance break unfolded.
Notably, singer G-Dragon participated in composing to enhance the completeness.
Aasa stated, “When I heard GD’s demo, I tried my best to follow GD sunbae’s swag as much as I could,
All seven members were very meticulous and worked hard during the recording,” she revealed.
Ahyeon, who showcased distinct vocal talent in ‘Shishi,’ performs a three-step high pitch in ‘Drip’ this time.
Ahyeon mentioned, “At first, it was about going stably with one note.
Under the direction to fully demonstrate my skills, it went from two steps to three steps,” and added, “Just as I left a good impression with ‘Dangerous’ pre-debut, I wanted to showcase my skills in the first regular album as well.” ‘Click Clack,’ which surpassed 10 million views as soon as it was pre-released, showcases a different charm than ‘Drip.’
All seven members rap, letting you taste original hip-hop.
Aasa explained, “The ‘Click Clack’ music video features black and white, cool gestures, and camera movement as elements to watch.”
Laura added, “We filmed not in an indoor set but on location in places like Paju and Seoul. Familiar locations appear little by little, making the music video fun and lively.”
Talking about Babymonster is incomplete without mentioning their ‘live performance skills.’
They showcased explosive vocal talent on music shows, holding hand mics.
This even boosted their somewhat lacking sound source skills.
Lami mentioned, “We will also use hand mics for this music show.
Thanks to the solid fundamentals we’ve built from being trainees, we can confidently show our live performances,” she said.
Performing with hand mics was an idea from Babymonster.
Laura explained, “We suggested hand mics in contemplation of how to show a better stage to fans, and the company accepted it positively.
There is certainly a big difference between performing with a team mic and performing with a hand mic,” she explained. After successfully wrapping up their activities with their first regular album, Babymonster is starting a new chapter with a world tour.
The members shared, “The world tour was a dream-like activity for all seven of us.
We want to create good memories with fans successfully and complete the world tour without a hitch,” they conveyed. Meanwhile, Babymonster is releasing their first regular album ‘Drip’ at 1 PM today. Kim Ji-hye, Reporter jahye2@edaily.co.kr
