‘Hwimibim’, the black-and-white chef, confesses to illegal operations.. “There was never a day I felt at ease.”

“Bibim King” Yoo Bibim, known for Netflix’s ‘Black & White Chef’, has confessed to past mistakes.

On the 1st, Yoo Bibim posted a handwritten letter on his SNS, saying, “With a remorseful heart, I wish to confess my past mistakes.

I have been involved in various businesses, from selling fruit to running street stalls and a hair salon, but failed repeatedly. Since 2003, I operated a restaurant in an unauthorized location and was arrested and received a suspended sentence,” he stated.

He continued, “I deeply reflected, and although I closed the shop for a year, out of necessity I registered under my wife’s name as a traditional Korean culture experience business and continued to operate until recently in a roundabout way,” he confessed.

He also said, “I earnestly appealed to various public institutions and the Regulatory Reform Committee to relax regulations so that I could run a restaurant legitimately, but the barriers were too high, and I couldn’t achieve my intentions. However, I am well aware that breaking the law cannot be justified for any reason.”

Yoo Bibim stated, “As an ordinary person suddenly thrust into the spotlight, my wife and I have not had a day of peace,” adding, “I will now return to my original intentions, study the Bibim phenomenon, and focus on writing the Bibim Alphabet Encyclopedia.”

He continued, “In a spirit of apology, I will open the old Bibim Sound space, which I’ve nurtured with all my heart over the past 20 years, as a free venue for Bibim exhibitions and performances, and at Bibim Sound, moved to a hanok village, I will legally strive to repay the support with the best ingredients.”

Finally, “I am sorry for causing great disappointment due to my shortcomings once again.

While I have lived the past 20 years for my livelihood, I pledge to live the next 20 years for the Bibim culture of Korea,” he added.
