Actor Kim Jung-nan (54) recently revealed that she collapsed due to vasovagal syncope.
On the 12th, a video titled ‘The Life Story of Kim Jung-nan’s Real Sister Yoon Se-ah First Revealed’ was uploaded to Kim Jung-nan’s YouTube channel ‘Kim Jung-nan’.
Inviting actor Yoon Se-ah to her home, Kim Jung-nan said, “I got injured tremendously the day before yesterday,” and asked, “Did you think I had some procedure done?”
Yoon Se-ah replied, “That’s why I couldn’t ask,” adding jokingly, “I thought you might have been pulling it down because your face was tight.”
Kim Jung-nan then revealed, “I almost crossed over to the afterlife a week ago because I fainted,” and Yoon Se-ah responded, “It’s no laughing matter,” expressing her sympathies.
Kim Jung-nan said, “Suddenly, I experienced vasovagal syncope. I fainted without knowing beside the bed and hit my head on the corner of the nightstand,” adding, “I told Mari (her pet cat), ‘Mom is done. Life is over.’”
She explained, “Tears started flowing, and I could feel my jawbone. I called 119, took an ambulance to the hospital, and had a CT scan and X-ray done to check for any brain hemorrhage.”
She continued, “I went to a plastic surgeon who is good at suturing and got stitched up. A week has passed, and I had the stitches removed yesterday.”
Vasovagal syncope is caused by excessive stimulation of the vagus nerve, which regulates heartbeats and blood vessel contraction, resulting in a temporary drop in blood pressure and heart rate, leading to a decrease in cerebral blood flow and loss of consciousness.
It commonly occurs in circumstances such as extreme stress or fatigue, prolonged standing, severe pain or fear, and hot, enclosed environments. In cases like Kim Jung-nan’s, fainting immediately after syncope can result in serious injuries by hitting nearby objects, so caution is required.
Previously, on the 9th, singer HyunA fainted during a WaterBomb concert in Macau, causing fans concern, as she had confessed to being treated for vasovagal syncope in the past. After fainting, HyunA expressed, “I’m really sorry. I don’t remember anything either,” on social media.
