[Star Daily News=Nana Kim, Reporter] The American mixed martial arts (MMA) organization Professional Fighters League joins hands with South Korean giant Samsung.
PFL announced a partnership with the OTT service ‘Samsung TV Plus.’ ‘Samsung TV Plus’ will screen the ‘PFL 24/7 FAST’ channel for viewers in the United States and Canada.
Heavyweight (120kg) MMA Champion Francis Ngannou (39, Cameroon) joined PFL in May 2023 after a contract dispute with UFC. In November of that year, the American MMA organization Bellator was acquired by PFL, causing a global surprise.
Including a joint tournament in February, PFL and Bellator held a total of 24 events in 2024. They were held outside the US in Saudi Arabia, France, England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
In a press release from ‘Samsung TV Plus,’ PFL stated, “The joint roster with Bellator occupies 30% of the TOP25 rankings by weight class in mixed martial arts,” explaining its high status and strong base of athletes.

Living up to the name Professional Fighters League, champions from heavyweight to light heavyweight (93kg), welterweight (77kg), lightweight (70kg), featherweight (66kg), and women’s flyweight (57kg) were selected through the tournament after the regular season in a league format in 2024. The prize for the champion is $1 million each, totaling $6 million.
Separate from the match fee, just the prize money given to the playoff champion each year exceeds 8.7 billion won. This indicates the current financial power and commercial scale of PFL.
